4D Imaging, Inc. has developed new scanning techniques to cover a wide variety of applications allowing experts to analyze, visually display and explain accidents and failed components in three dimensions (3D) with real color. Our scanning methods can capture large scenes such as roadway intersections so that actual surface profiles can be input into analysis programs such as PC-Crash, LSDyna, etc:

The scan at right documents the exact location of a plane, the debris and the amount of fuselage crush, in order to back calculate airspeed at the time of the accident.

4D engineers have used this technique to determine the dimensions of autos and trucks in accident cases. The scans describe impact loads and determine what a driver could have seen.

All current scanning can be done in real color. It works on large and small objects, from crushed bicycle helmets to equipment such as cement mixers for use in rollover analysis. 4-D scans are effective in evaluating pipelines with corrosion thin spots to determine if it is safe to continue operating at high temperatures and pressures.
